San Juan Islands

We had a little weekend getaway.  

Jeff has been traveling for business and he decided it would be fun for us to have a family getaway for Memorial Day weekend. 

He told me his idea on Wednesday....

So, I kicked it into high gear and planned a last minute trip to the San Juan Islands!

We had SO much fun!

 This was taken Friday night from our Ferry on the way to Orcas Island

 We got the last room at the inn...  The kids had a hard time grasping the concept that we were staying in an old house, just renting a room...not the whole house.

 The girls were having fun trying on these hats in a local boutique.  I'm thinking we should have bought these so we can go to the Kentucky Derby next year.  :)

 While we were at Friday Harbor we ate at Fridays Crabhouse.  Here is a photo of me with the owner....he's showing me how to grill fresh oysters.  Yummy!  They had the BEST clam chowder ever!

Evening concerts

Lucy started playing violin last fall.  

She takes private lessons once a week with a great local teacher.

I love watching and listening to her practice.  

I like to think of it as my own little evening concert.

I have been playing with my new camera every chance I get....

here are just some of the images I captured this week.

 This is a Clydesdale ranch just down the hill from our house.  These beauties are usually out in the far back pasture and this week they were out front.  I have been waiting all winter to see them.

 This one is completely overexposed!  I'm so bum because I think it's a great shot of Lucy.  I have to practice changing my settings quicker.

A great Mother's Day!

I had a fabulous Mother's Day!  

It started with breakfast in bed, a Chai tea from Starbucks, lunch at one of my favorite restaurants and a fun afternoon at beautiful Manito Park.  

Spring has arrived and everything is in bloom.

Lucy's Saturday....

Guess what came on Thursday???  My new camera!!!!!

Oh my goodness, you would have thought it was Christmas Day.

 I took the girls out for a spa day.  We went to get pedis.  I walked over to pick my nail color and turned around to see Miss Lucy sitting in the chair, reading COSMO like this is something she does everyday! She cracks me up.

 On the way home I pulled over and told Lucy to run through this field.  She immediately picked up some dandelions.

 We came home and she wanted to paint her birdhouse.
