Doesn't everyone???

Doesn't everyone dress like this to watch/cheer on their brother's soccer game?
If your name is Lucy, you do!
This is how my little fashionista looked early (way too early) Saturday morning.
Saturday was really our 1st fall crisp day.  I had a feeling she couldn't wait to wear this new dress.  I love how she paired it with the furry vest and boots.
Look out Rachel Z*e!

Happy Moon Festival!

Happy Mid Autumn/Moon Festival!
Tonight we sat outside on the front porch, ate some moon cakes and looked at the beautiful moon.
I was able to figure out my tripod and shoot this photo of the moon.
It's been a long day, now it's off to bed.

Peachy

We had a perfect peachy Sunday.
We have recently become friends with a great family that just moved here from Chicago.  We all decided it would be fun to go to the local orchard and pick peaches.  We picked over 40 peaches and about 50 yellow plums....so yummy!
We came home and made a peach cobbler.  Now, I'm looking forward to next month to get apples and pumpkins and spending more time with our new friends.

Olivia and her sweet new friend

I caught these girls eating instead of picking...

Our new friends, the S family!

Meet Miss G

Meet Miss G!  Miss G lives next door to us and I had the pleasure of doing a photo shoot with her this morning.  It was so much fun!  My kids are sick of me taking their photos, so I need to find new subjects.  I was able to practice all the new things I've learned in my photo class.
Isn't she adorable?  She loves the camera.

Match Day {7 years}

7 years ago today.....we got the call and saw our 1st  photo of She Ya He.  I cried so hard when I saw that sweet face and little pout.  I couldn't wait to jump on a plane to China!

We started the process in 2003 and we knew we would be making a difference in the life of a little girl, that's obvious, but we had no idea what a difference she would make in our lives.  She is such an amazing girl.  She's proud to be Chinese and seems to understand that although she wasn't born into this family, she's just as much a part of it.  I hope she always feels this way.

She has the best outlook and attitude on everything.  She is definitely, "the glass is half-full" kind of person.  She skips and sings everywhere she goes and often has insightful wisdom beyond her 7 years.
We are the lucky ones for sure!  We are blessed beyond measure to call Lucy our daughter and sister!

Happy Match Day!

1st Day of School

Finally, the kids started back to school.  It's been a fun, but long summer.
It all began last night at "back to school" night.  We went to Jack and Lucy's school to meet the teachers and drop off our school supplies.

Jack and his 5th grade teacher

Lucy and her 2nd grade teacher

Olivia was up and early to get ready for her 1st day of 8th grade.  I can't believe she's an 8th grader!   She was NOT wanting any photos taken this morning and wasn't very happy with me.

This boy is Tristan, he also is new to the area and he stopped by this morning to walk with Olivia to the bus stop.   You can tell from this photo, she's dying that I'm taking her photo with a boy!  HA!

An hour later it was Jack and Lucy's turn for photos and the walk to the bus stop.

They still like to ham it up for me.

I thought I would show you the beautiful view from the bus stop.

Lots of kids waiting for the bus

and they're off....
I'm so proud of my kiddos this morning.  I know it's hard to move and start a new school with new friends, but they really have been great troopers.  They were all 3 worried about riding the bus, they haven't had to ride the bus to and from school before.
I know they will all have a great day and I can't wait to hear about it.

The boys are back

The boys are back from their 3 days adventure at Legoland.
Jack said it was even better than he imagined, both he and Jeff had a great time.
The girls and I enjoyed the peace and quiet around the house....it was a win/win for everyone!

This is the lego airplane Jack bought with the money he had been saving up.  He walked in the door and starting putting this together.  It took him less than an hour.
He also spent some of his money on Lucy.  He bought her a little lego set and she made a "welcome home Jack" sign on his bedroom door.  It was very sweet of both of them.  They won't admit it, but I think they missed each other.
