Fancy Lucy

Lucy loves Fancy Nancy. Lucy likes to use the "fancy words" that Fancy Nancy uses. For instance, Lucy will say to me, "I want to dine alfresco tonight." She also loves using the french words that Fancy Nancy uses, "bon-jour and papillion." Lucy is always cracking us up with her love of Fancy Nancy.

My dear friend and neighbor, Xan was shopping on-line a few weeks ago and came across some Fancy Nancy pajamas and she just had to buy them for Lucy. Xan was so excited to give the P.J's to Lucy, she couldn't even wait until Lucy's birthday next month.

Thank you Ms Xan!!! We love our new P.J.'s!!!

Moon Festival

We celebrated Moon Festival last night. The kids have been looking forward to it for weeks. I had plans to order Chinese take-out and afterwards drive to a local park to watch the moon rise.

For weeks, we have had unseasonably hot weather, I would even say an Indian Summer. It's been super dry and no rain for weeks. Well, yesterday afternoon the clouds rolled in and we got rain. I knew there was no way we would be able to see the moon through the cloud cover. I desperately wanted to get a photo like this....

We did enjoy our Chinese take-out and our dessert. Chinese tradition is to have mooncakes. Mooncakes are dense cakes made with lotus or red bean curd....let's just say it's an acquired taste. I had the idea to have moonpies instead. I knew the kids would love them, and they did.

Yummy!!!

Happy Moon Festival!!! Maybe, next year I will get my beautiful moon photo.

My Choir Boy???

Here's the conversation I had with Jack tonight while we were sitting in the Chic fil A drive thru.

Jack, "I wish I had joined the school choir."

Me, "I didn't realize you wanted to sing in the choir."

Jack, "Well, I don't really....I just want to join because ALL the hot girls are in choir."

Oh, Lord....help me!!!

Look who's playing soccer

Lucy has watched her brother and sister play soccer for years and finally....she gets to play!
She was beyond excited last week to have her 1st practice. After, practice she came home and was showing all of us her "mad soccer skills" until it was time for bed.
She played her 1st game on Saturday and loved it! We are excited to have all 3 kids in soccer this season. Saturdays will be fun, but crazy now through October.

Happy Referral Day....6 years!

Six years ago today we got a call from Christine at CCAI...."would you like to see a picture of your daughter?"

It was our referral. We had waited just short of a year to finally see a picture of our daughter and we were overcome with emotion.

I had been following the "rumors" and had an inkling that this was THE DAY. I was having a danish and some tea with a neighbor while pacing the floor, waiting for the phone to ring. Just before 11 am we got the call.

I immediately called Jeff at work and told him to meet me at CCAI as fast as he could.....luckily we only live a short drive away.

Christine told us everything we needed to know about She Ya He and then showed us her photo. I couldn't believe it....finally, our baby girl! I looked at those brown eyes and that sweet little pout and my heart melted. My first thought was, oh my gosh, she looks like my mom. :)

She Ya He ended up being Miss Luciana Yahe and after 6 years she can still get to me with that little pout!!!

My Little Fashionista

This is my Sweet Lucy! Lucy was born in hearts in 2004 and we have been blessed beyond measure. Lucy is sweet, funny, smart and (as you can see) cute as can be! She, unlike her brother and sister will still let me take photos, lots of photos of her. She loves to pose for the camera and loves fashion. She wants to be a fashion designer when she grows up. Every time we're at the mall she will point out clothes for me and say, "mommy, that would be so pretty on you." I love my little fashionista!!!
